ACHIEVEMENTS

• Performed first ever Allogeneic stem cell/Bone marrow transplantation in the state of Andhrapradesh,India
• Initiated state of the art advanced tertiary care Hemato-oncology Center along with Bone marrow transplant unit at MGCH&RI, Visakhapatnam, which is first of it’s kind in the newly formed state of Andhra Pradesh
• Conducted a first ever state level Bone marrow transplantation conference at Visakhapatnam, in 2019
• Presently treating more than 1000 blood cancer patients per year
• So far treated more than 7500 patients with blood related disease
• Member of Indian Society for Blood & Marrow Transplantation (ISBMT), headed by Christian Medical College(CMC), Velloe
• Performed more than 200 bone marrow/stem cell transplantations so far(including centers at Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam )

CURRENT ROLE

Currently doctor treats patients with hematological disorders attending to our OPD services and patients admitted in wards of the Department of Clinical Hematology and Stem cell unit at Visakhapatnam, India. He manages both adult and pediatric patients with leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma, MDS, MPN, Aplastic anemia, bone marrow failure syndromes, host of immunodeficiency disorders and other malignant and benign hematological conditions. Dr Chandrasekhar is a treating physician for patients undergoing autologous, allogeneic stem cell/Bone marrow transplantations. Currently our team is performing autologous and allogeneic transplants with graft manipulations, performing transplants from matched sibling, unrelated donors, mismatched donors, and partially matched donors. He is efficient in managing post-transplant complications and managing long term effects of treatment of cancers. Doctor is also a principle investigator for all clinical trials conducted in department of Haemto-oncology He is a co-investigator for clinical trials running by various institutions in india.

Worked as Hematologist, Hemato-Oncologist & Stem Cell Transplant Physician at Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences(NIMS), Hyderabad (2017 and 2018).

Trained in Hemato-Oncology and bone marrow transplantation at Mazumdar Shaw Cancer Centre, Narayana hrudayalaya Hospital, Bangalore from Feb 2014 to June 2017

Doctor was actively involved and participated in the formation of stem cell unit (8 beded) and research centre at Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences which was sponsored by central govt of india in association with the Centre for Cellular & Molecular Biology (CCMB).

He Worked in Christian medical college (CMC), Vellore, which is a best premier institute in India as a Clinical observer in Hemato-Oncology and bone marrow transplantation unit in 2016

EDUCATION

Super speciality (DNB) in Clinical Hematology and Hemato - Oncology Pursued from 2014 feb to 2017 may, at Mazumdar Shaw Cancer Centre, Narayana hrudayalaya Hospital, Bangalore. This Course involved learning and experience in treating, managing benign hematology and Hemato oncology patients. The course has a specific curriculum for transplantation and comprehensive management of Leukemia patients. Presented 3 research papers, oral presentation in National conferences, 2 poster presentation at International conference (APBMT 2016 Singapore, BTG 2016 China). Mine dissertation was “The Prevalence of the aberrant antigenic expression in acute leukemia in a tertiary care hospital” which got selected at national board and presently has submitted for publication at a national journal. During my training I Worked at CMC, Vellore as a Clinical observer in Hemato-Oncology and bone marrow transplantation unit in 2016

TRAINING IN BONE MARROW TRANSPLANTATION

I underwent training in bone marrow transplantation at the same hospital (Mazumdar Shaw Cancer Centre, Narayana hrudayalaya Hospital, Bangalore) during mine residency, where around 150 transplants per year are going on. I received best training in bone marrow transplantation (14 bedded unit) which including matched sibling, unrelated donor and haplo - identical donors (Both PtCy and alpha beta depleted grafts) transplantation. I Have wide exposure in both allogenic and autologous transplant using bone marrow and peripheral blood stem cells for various benign and malignant disorders like Thalassemia, Sickle cell anemia, Aplastic Anaemia, Leukemia, Lymphomas, host of immunodeficiency disorders, Multiple myelomas and advanced Pediatric solid tumors.
